I want to go through and highlight some of Boise’s surrounding areas and let you all know a little bit about them. Whether you’re a young family looking to find a place to settle down or you are single and moving to Boise / relocating to Boise for your career there is a place that will fit you just right.  Over the next few weeks I’m going to give you some information that will hopefully help you pick the right place to live.

Let’s start off with Garden City. It’s often overlooked when people start shopping around for houses. It is known as area 700 in the MLS and for a long time it was excluded in many home searches.  But, it actually has some of the best river front property in Boise. Garden City has started to make some changes including the development of an arts district as well as a new urban development project. It’s definitely worth taking a look at when you’re thinking of moving to Boise.

Here are some quick facts about the city: Garden City has a  population of 11,217. You can still get a little bit of a smaller-town feel with the larger city of Boise very close by. The average home value is $182,200 makes it less expensive than the neighboring town of Eagle. The population growth rate is 2.2% which is a good sign when you’re looking at whether or not your home is going to appreciate after you buy it and also if you’re thinking of starting your own business in the area.

Garden City has many great features! It is home to the Les Bois horse racing track, which is a great activity when family and friends come to visit, or just a fun night out. You will also find Expo Idaho, where the Western Idaho Fair is held each summer, as well as other great attractions throughout the year.

They’ve also got a great library that offers over 750 programs a year! The library offers a mobile library that travels the streets throughout the summer and, in addition to books, has computers, iPads, and even snacks.

I’d be happy to show you some of the houses for sale in Garden City and see if we can find something to fit you. If not stay tuned when we’ll take a look at Eagle, Meridian, Nampa, and then Boise itself.
