If you live in the treasure valley, you are probably aware of the rapid population growth we are experiencing. Our schools are overcrowded, and virtually bursting at the seams! School populations in Kuna alone have doubled in the last decade.

This week, a Kuna family made what is considered to be one of the largest donations to a school district ever- 100 acres of land valued at over a million dollars. This donation came with no strings attached, as long as the school district used it to build some kind of school.

The land is near the high school, and other new developments, on the corner of Median Road and Kuna Road.  This generous donation from the Thorton Family is expected to save tax payers lots of money, as the projected growth in the area would have been asking tax payers to purchase land for a new school in the coming years.

The School district says they are “ecstatic” over this much needed gift.  They hope that the community will come together with ideas on the development of the land.
