BSU COMING TO MERIDIAN IDAHO

BSU’s new campus is not an expansion, but the school is aiming its resources where the people are: West Ada County. The school closed its classroom instruction at Columbia High School in the Nampa School District and was looking for a more central localtion to offer classes. It found a place in Meridian, at 2950 Magic View Drive, the former home of the University of Phoenix before the school moved near Interstate 84.

The move brings one significant change. The Meridian campus won’t offer lower-division classes that were part of the program at Columbia.

Moreover, Boise State is in early discussions about reducing its role in providing the same classes it now offers at Gowen Field, said Peter Risse, associate dean for Boise State’s Division of Extended Studies. The university is in discussions with the College of Western Idaho, which specializes in early-college classes, to take up the programs at Gowen.

The Meridian building also lets Boise State offer classes on Fridays and Saturdays, which was not possible at Columbia.

Once again, Meridian Idaho is on the move.
