I want to re-post this fine advice by Josh Schoenly.

Every year around this time everybody starts talking about New Years Resolutions. Well I’m here to tell you that New Years Resolutions suck. Yep I said it. Now I understand that might offend some folks but it’s the truth. Here’s why, every year millions of people make resolutions only to break them in a month, a week or in some cases just a few days. It pretty much becomes a joke and an exercise in futility.

Here’s what I suggest, instead of New Years Resolutions, make New Years Commitments. Write them down, commit to them and then create an action plan for achieving those commitments and a whole lot more.

So in 3 easy steps here’s what to do instead of lame “New Years Resolutions”:

1. Make NEW YEARS COMMITMENTS – write them down and post them somewhere that you see them multiple times each day.

2. Create an ACTION PLAN to achieve the commitments you are making. HINT: find someone who has successful done what you are committing to and “steal” their plan.

3. TAKE MASSIVE ACTION. Yep that’s right just “thinking positively” isn’t going to do it, you’ve got to go out and take massive, massive action. Sorry there’s no 2 ways about it, either take massive action and succeed or complain about not achieving your commitments because you didn’t take massive action, it’s totally your choice.
