What’s with all these agent rating sites out there now?

Last week Zillow a national real estate listing portal and home value estimating (kinda) website announced they were implementing a “real estate agent review” component to their site.  You know, a place where you can give a real estate agent a Five Star  (or No star) review for the whole world to see.  Another place where folks pondering buying or selling a home could go and find an agent, and by looking at reviews from past clients be privy to whether or not an agent was worth a beaver dam at what they do.

As far as I’m concerned it’s another way to further clean up the industry and increase the transparency between the agent and gullible public.  About time to wake up and join the 21st Century.

Alls kinds of folks that use the internet look at reviews. Reviews of places, products, services, movies, books, service providers – and real estate agents falls into that last category.  People should have the right to base their buying decisions, and their choice of service providers on consumer generated reviews.  We’ve all done it.  I look at movie and book reviews all the time.

Zillow adding agent reviews is far from innovative, new or original. There are many real estate agent reviews sites already in existence. Here are just a few:

  • RealEstateRatingz
  • Homethinking
  • Incredible Agents
  • Agent Scoreboard
  • Rate My Agent
  • RealEstate.com
  • Rate Your Broker

In addition, there are many review sites that aren’t real estate specific, but have real estate agent review areas such as:

Angie’s List (Boise specific) and some little site called Google, which has a review component in its Places categories.

Bring it on! Let’s get the ratings started and let the customer decide who is good and who needs public censure.
